<intro>
All of the players and fans were happy Monday morning on One Bills Drive after the Bills shook off their three-game over all losing streak and their eight-game losing streak against the AFC East with their win over the Jets on Sunday.

Unless of course you are defensive coordinator Perry Fewell who had amassed himself in film, attempting to figure out what the reason is that his squad has the leagues worst defense against the run.

The Bills defense has given up 961 rushing yards in the last four games, 222 by New Orleans, 250 by Miami, 171 by Cleveland and an incredible 318 by the Jets.

It was the second-highest rushing total in Jets history. For the Bills, it was the second-most rushing yards ever given up by the Bills.

Even the players did not realize how much yardage that they had given up.

"Wow, was it 300?" middle linebacker Paul Posluszny said.

He then went on to say that he had never been involved in game like that and that it had to be first, not only for him, but also for most of the players.

There has been only one other team in Bills history to ever give up more yardage and that was the 1962 team when the Dallas Texans rushed for 320 yards.

The Bills rank dead last in the NFL against the run. They allow an average of 181.8 yards rushing per game, which is 10 yards more each game than the Buccaneers who are ranked just above the Bills at 31.

Surprisingly, only seven games throughout NFL history has a team given up over 200 yards to a single player and come out victorious in the game.

That little interesting tidbit aside, the Bills have to do something about their run defense, and do it quickly. It is not going to get any easier this week when they travel south to play the Panthers and the duel threat of running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.

Even with a record of 2-3, the Panthers rank eighth in the NFL in rushing at 131.8 yards per game. If the Bills want to avoid yet another game being completely run over, they will need to muscle up on the defensive line. If they do not, it is going to be a very long day once again for the Bills. There will be no “Southern Hospitality” once the game starts in Carolina.

The Bills were totally out muscled on the front line by the Jets' experienced offensive line. In addition, not just the line has issues, but the absence of size in the linebackers is a concern as well. The two outside linebackers both weigh in around the 225-pound range.

Therefore, if the line does muscle up and control the line, the Panthers blockers will not get out onto the linebackers, because if they do, the Bills are in for a very long day.

I think that DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart would be excellent Fantasy starters this week.

Just a thought!

</intro>
