1021 3797 The rookie symposium was a great experience, I learned a lot and listened to a lot of good vets who were very helpful.  Cris Carter, Willie Brown, Maurice Jones-Drew, Martellus Bennett all spoke to the rookies about being in the NFL. The message was to understand this is a business and to act like a professional. You’re living a dream so don’t screw it up, uphold the badge of the NFL. It’s something you work for your whole life so respect the game and the people who played it before you.   I’m in LA now to see some old friends but I’ve been working out hard 4 days a week in Houston, running every day and getting used to the heat.   I just want to get going, get the season started already. I’ve been looking forward to this for so long, the offseason seems like its lasted forever.   I’m really looking forward to every aspect of the game and just the opportunity to start playing. I’m anxious to get out on the field and have some fun. I understand there will be some rookie walls but I’m ready to go.   I understand there will be some rookie hazing and I won’t be upset if I have to get up and sing in the cafeteria. That rookie stuff is part of the game. This team has some good leaders and a couple of guys I already know. Eric Winston hosted me with Greg Olsen when I was at Miami looking at colleges. It was my childhood dream to play there, but in the end USC was the best fit for me.   I’ll be back home in New Jersey next week, continuing to train and prepare for camp. I’m looking forward to signing my contract. I don’t know when that will be but I’m sure my agent is negotiating it right now.   I just want to get signed so I can go out there and start playing.   Brian Cushing is a linebacker with the Houston Texans.
