College and Pro Football is in full swing, the baseball playoff battles are going strong, hockey has started, and the basketball regular season is just around the corner.  This is the time of the year that every American sports fan has numerous options as to their sporting preference. <o:p> </o:p> There is a lot going on right now in the world of sports. <o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p>In Major League Baseball, the big news was the Philadelphia Phillies dominating 10-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in game five of the National League Championship Series (NLCS). <o:p> </o:p> The defending champions will once again be in the World Series and they will have the chance to defend its title against either the New York Yankees or the California Angels. My bet is on a Phillies-Yankees World Series considering that the Yanks lead the ALCS 3-1 and can clinch tonight in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Anaheim</st1:city></st1:place>. <o:p> </o:p> The Phillies want the Yankees! <o:p> </o:p> <o:p></o:p>In NHL Hockey, there are already some teams that are making statements early in the season. The defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins leads the NHL with an 8-1 record and 16 points.    <o:p> </o:p> In the Eastern Conference, the division leaders are the Penguins, the Buffalo Sabres, and the Washington Capitols. The Sabers have a 5-1 record with 11 points. The Capitols have a 4-2 record with 10 points. <o:p> </o:p> Other notables in the East are the New York Rangers with a 7-2 record and 14 points, and the Ottawa Senators with a 5-2 record and 10 points. <o:p> </o:p> In the Western Conference, the Colorado Avalanche lead the conference with a 6-1 record with 14 points. The defending Champion Pittsburgh Steelers are also 4-2 but the Bengals currently hold the tiebreaker with a better divisional record.    In the NFC, the Minnesota Vikings are 6-0, and the New Orleans Saints are 5-0.  <o:p> </o:p> The other divisional leaders are the New York Giants with a record of 5-1 and the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">San Francisco</st1:city></st1:place> 49ers with a record of 3-2. The defending NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals are also 3-2 but the 49ers currently hold the tiebreaker with a better divisional record. <o:p> </o:p> The NBA regular season begins next Tuesday, October 27th. The preseason is in full swing as teams attempt to get their rosters finalized before the start of the regular season. <o:p> </o:p> Not that preseason means anything, as years of facts prove that how well or how bad you do in the preseason usually has absolutely nothing to do with how the regular season will turn out, but here are the divisional leaders through the preseason so far. <o:p> </o:p> In the Eastern Conference, the Orlando Magic, the Boston Celtics, and the Chicago Bulls lead their respective divisions. <o:p> </o:p> In the Western Conference, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Utah Jazz lead their respective divisions. <o:p> </o:p> We will see how this transforms into the regular season. <o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Well that is it for today and tomorrow is another day!
