1117 1901 I would like to begin by saying that this list is my opinion and was not influenced by critics, sportswriters, ESPN, or anyone else. As we all know, opinions are like donkey holes, we all have one! I also tried to include as many sports as I could so as not to favor one or the other. As you will notice, the majority of films on this list are either true stories or comedies, although there are few exceptions. <o:p> </o:p> Here we go!   <o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="100" src="/uploads/Image/Miracle.jpg" /> 1. Miracle<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> This could very well be the best sports movie ever filmed. The inspiring story of the team that transcended its sport and united a nation with a new feeling of hope. Based on the true story of the 1980 <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">USA</st1:country-region></st1:place> hockey team and one of the greatest moments in sports history.<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <style type="text/css"></style> <img height="130" alt="" width="100" src="/uploads/Image/Hoosiers.jpg" />  2. Hoosiers<o:p></o:p>   <o:p> </o:p> A classic true tale of redemption, this film features a volatile coach and a former star player-turned town drunk leading a small-town <st1:state w:st="on">Indiana</st1:state> basketball team on an improbable run to the <st1:state w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Indiana</st1:place></st1:state> state finals in 1954.<o:p> One of the best no doubt. </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="138" alt="" width="100" src="/uploads/Image/Natural.jpg" /> 3. The Natural<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> An unknown middle-aged player named Roy Hobbs who has a mysterious past appears out of nowhere and helps to turn around a losing 1930s baseball team into a pennant winner. The film shows a player with great "natural" baseball talent through his decades of success and suffering in this magical sports fantasy movie.<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="98" src="/uploads/Image/Field of dreams.jpg" /> 4. Field of Dreams<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p>  An <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:state w:st="on">Iowa</st1:state></st1:place> farmer hears a voice in his cornfield that tells him, "If you build it, he will come." He builds a baseball field on his farm, and the ghosts of former baseball players such as Shoeless Joe Jackson and other Chicago White Sox players banned from the game for throwing the 1919 World Series show up on the field to play ball.  <o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="97" src="/uploads/Image/Rudy.jpg" /> 5. Rudy<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type" /> <meta name="ProgId" content="Word.Document" /> <meta name="Generator" content="Microsoft Word 11" /> <meta name="Originator" content="Microsoft Word 11" /> <link href="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip_filelist.xml" rel="File-List" /><style type="text/css"> </style> Another true story about an underdog with a huge heart and desire. Rudy grew up in a Steel Mill town and dreamed of playing football at Notre Dame. He lacked the size or the smarts to attend Norte Dame, but he had the passion and the aspiration to fulfill his dream and play football for Notre Dame. This is a great movie, and brings out all your emotions.<o:p> </o:p>   <o:p> </o:p> <img height="137" alt="" width="100" src="/uploads/Image/caddyshack.jpg" /> 6. Caddyshack<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> A hilarious story that revolves around the caddy’s at an exclusive membership only golf club, Bushwood Country Club. After a series of misadventures, and a climactic final golf tournament which ends with the loony groundskeeper blowing up the course. A laugh at every turn and a classic movie if I ever saw one.<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="91" src="/uploads/Image/Slap shot.jpg" /> 7.  Slap Shot<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> An insufficient ice hockey team finds a bed of roses by using fighting and violence during their games. The player-coach of a small town minor professional league hockey team has to deal with antagonistic crowds and on-ice goons in this look at minor league ice hockey. If you are even a slight hockey fan, or not, this film is worth watching for some good laughs.<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="97" src="/uploads/Image/Bull Durham.jpg" /> 8. Bull <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Durham</st1:place></st1:city><o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> A veteran minor-league catcher is assigned to the Class A Durham Bulls to mentor the team's star rookie and wild pitcher. The team’s female groupie seduces both players, creating a comical triangle between them. The baseball scenes are accurate and the sexual tensions make for a good laugh.<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="130" alt="" width="100" src="/uploads/Image/Rocky.jpg" />  9. Rocky<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> A no name boxer gets his chance of a lifetime chance when he gets the opportunity to fight the heavyweight champion in a bout in which he attempts to go the distance for his own self-respect. The classic scene running up the steps in downtown Philly is a classic in itself.<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="100" src="/uploads/Image/remember the titans.jpg" /> 10. Remember the Titans<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> The true story in which a black coach is hired to take the place of a highly respected white coach at the brand-new desegregated <st1:placename w:st="on">T.C.</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">Williams</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">High School</st1:placename> in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:state w:st="on">Virginia</st1:state></st1:place> in 1971. After some forceful persuasion and team building undertakings by the black Head Coach, the team goes undefeated and wins the state championship. This is a bona fide good feeling movie and I like the fact that it is a true story.<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="97" src="/uploads/Image/replacements.jpg" /> 11. The Replacements<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p>  This is a comedy based on the 1987 professional football players' strike. When an NFL football team, the Washington Sentinels, goes on strike, they put together a rag-tag team of replacement players from various professions to finish out the season's last four games. Even though the movie received bad reviews and is not a critics favorite, I still find it quite humorous and it is one of my favorites.<o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="95" src="/uploads/Image/majoe league.jpg" /> 12. Major League<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p>  The new female owner of the Cleveland Indians puts together a purposely-horrible team so they'll lose and she can move the team to a warmer climate city with a new stadium. She fields the worst team she can find made up of misfits and losers. Once they discover her plan it gives them something to rally around and start winning just to spite her. A must watch at this time of the year. Lots of laughs!<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="99" src="/uploads/Image/Longest yard.jpg" /> 13. The Longest Yard (original version)<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> A sadistic football crazed warden recruits a former pro quarterback who is serving time in his prison, to put together a team of inmates to take on the prisons guards. Being that he is known for throwing a game in the pros, his quandary is that the warden wants him to throw the game in return for an early release, but he is concerned about the inmates' lack of morale and his reputation. Extremely hysterical and a must watch for any football fan.<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="99" src="/uploads/Image/White men.jpg" /> 14. White Men Can’t Jump<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Black and white basketball hustlers who think they are the best basketball hustlers in town join forces to double their chances. Nothing can stop them, except each other, with numerous problems such as being chased by a pair of gangsters looking for money that is owed them. This is an enjoyable movies with a lot of twists and turns.<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="90" src="/uploads/Image/seabiscuit.jpg" /> 15. Seabiscuit<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> The best horse racing film ever made and a true story of an undersized Depression-era racehorse whose win after win lifted not only the spirits of the team behind it but also those of a discouraged nation. The film accurately portrays the real people and the events that happened when Seabiscuit lifted up the spirits of everyone in the country.<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="96" src="/uploads/Image/Brians song.jpg" /> 16. Brian’s Song<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> How can I be a Bears fan and not include this movie? This is a true story based on the friendship between Chicago Bears teammates and running backs Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers.  Both men become better football players because of, and in spite of each other, when Sayers hurts his knee and then when Piccolo discovers that he has cancer and is dying. <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p><o:p> </o:p> <img height="138" alt="" width="100" src="/uploads/Image/tin Cup.jpg" /> 17. Tin Cup<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> A failed pro golfer, who lives in <st1:state w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Texas</st1:place></st1:state> at a worn down driving range he owns in a Winnebago, meets a beautiful woman who shows up for golf lessons. It turns out she is the girlfriend of his longtime nemesis and PGA superstar. She inspires him to start taking himself seriously, and he decides to give it a shot in trying to qualify for the US Open. Might just be the best realistic golf movie of all time.<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="97" src="/uploads/Image/The rookie.jpg" /> 18. The Rookie <o:p> </o:p> Another true story, in which a Texas High School baseball coach in his thirties, who has loved baseball and had a dream since he was a boy, makes the major leagues and overcomes all odds. After being coerced into trying out by his team after they won the district championship, he surprisingly gets a call and signs a minor league contract. He proceeds to make an impression and works his way to the show and pitching on a major league mound. I just love these true feel good underdog movies. <o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="139" alt="" width="97" src="/uploads/Image/breaking away.jpg" /> 19. Breaking Away<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> A small-town <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:state w:st="on">Indiana</st1:state></st1:place> teen in a college town who hopes to race the Italians one day, takes up the Italian culture and accent, much to his friends and parents displeasure. He and his friends try to breakaway from their townie reputations while fighting with nearby college snobs. In the end, he reaches a new understanding of himself, his father, and his friends.<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> <img height="140" alt="" width="85" src="/uploads/Image/sandlot.jpg" /> 20. The Sandlot<o:p> </o:p> <o:p> </o:p> A story that inevitably brings back some fond childhood memories of playing baseball with your best buddies during the summer. They have the adventure of a lifetime and the humongous ball-eating dog of their nightmares. It is a piece of heaven in a sandlot baseball field for a whole summer long. It gets you to thinking about those long lost friends of yesteryear.     0.0.0.0
