<intro>
Why didn't the Philadelphia Eagles come up with the money to make their best player happy long before this? If they had done this years ago they probably would have won at least one Super Bowl by now and possibly more. This is another case of too little, too late by the Eagles cheap front office.

That's right, if they had come up with some extra money back in 2005 to make Terrell Owens happy everything could have been different. The offense would have had the legitimate threat at WR that they have sorely lacked, so that teams couldn't just focus on Westbrook. McNabb would have had a real #1 WR to throw to. Huh? What's that? Wait a minute. You thought I was talking about being happy that the Eagles gave more money to keep QB Donovan McNabb happy? Oh that's a good one.

No, giving McNabb more money means absolutely nothing to the future of the Eagles. He was under contract for the next two years anyway, so giving him a few extra million does nothing except make him happy. And boy does it take a lot to make that guy happy. He's always complaining about how he was booed at the draft, or being benched in Baltimore, or not liking what people are saying and writing about him, or how he's really the leader of the team. Blah, blah, blah. Shut the hell up already you whiny Bitch. I am so sick of this needy Drama Queen.

At the press conference McNabb didn't even sound that happy about getting roughly $6 million extra for no reason whatsoever. Well, that's not entirely true. He got the money because the Eagles front office was also tired of hearing him whine like a baby. The Eagles didn't give him the contract extension that he wanted, they just guaranteed the money during the remaining two years on his current contract and threw him an extra couple of mil. Yeah, all of us should have to endure such insults.

The problem is that McNabb doesn't deserve the money. He's such a choker he should be forced to wear a New York Mets cap at all times. Every time he gets in a pressure situation he chokes, sometimes literally. He is a anything but a leader. On most team's the QB tends to be the leader. Not this one, no matter how many times he stomps his feat and says he is. Maybe if he made more of those goofy faces into the camera. That's worked so well for him so far. And he drove away the best player the Eagles had a few years ago in TO.

Yes, TO deserved to get this money back in 2005. Jeremiah Trotter deserved the money back in 2002 too. If they had given Trotter the money he deserved they would have beaten the TB Bucs in the NFC Championship game and crushed the fraudulent Raiders in the Super Bowl that year. The team had plenty of money under the salary cap back then too. They always have money under the salary cap, because they never want to spend it all. I guess that's how you get to be a Billionaire like Eagles owner, Jeffrey Lurie.

If they kept TO happy, they could have made another run at the Super Bowl after their loss against the Patriots in the big game. And maybe the rest of the team would have been able to overcome McNabb's choking. Not likely, but I can dream can't I? That defense was still at the top of its game, knocking the snot out of opposing offenses. And that was a product of having TO, which enabled the team to get big leads, which enabled Jim Johnson to dial up blitz after blitz when the other team had to throw constantly to catch up.

But no. The team played hard ball with TO and began a downward spiral of losing that was only reversed this past season when the defense single-handedly lifted the team into the playoffs. OK, the Raiders shocking the Bucs to get the Eagles the last playoff spot didn't hurt either. (And yes, I know Jeff Garcia led the team to the playoffs in 2006 when surprise, McNabb got hurt.) But, it wasn't anything McNabb did last year. He wasn't as horrific as he was in the middle of last year, but he sure as hell didn't carry the team to any wins, like other QBs do. You know, the ones who are true leaders on their team.

Instead of being reactionary in giving McNabb more money, they should have been forward thinking. Maybe instead of having to make this move to reverse their run of horrific public relations blunders, they could have thrown a couple more million into the offer and kept the real leader of the team, Brian Dawkins. Why make McNabb happy, but piss off the other 51 players on the roster, who wonder why the Eagles constantly say they won't rework contracts? Anybody think Sheldon Brown is happy right now? I don't. Brian Westbrook is the exception to this rule of theirs. They should have made more exceptions, since they have more than enough money. They always have more than enough money, remember?

Giving McNabb more money changes nothing as far as his job security goes. If he sucks like he did in the middle of last year, he will get benched, just like in Baltimore. If Keven Kolb comes in and doesn't stink out the joint again, maybe McNabb won't get his starting job back this time. I don't know if Kolb is the answer to the Eagles quest for a Super Bowl title, but I do know that McNabb is not the answer. Giving him more money won't change that fact one damn bit either.
</intro>
