<intro>
The Party’s over!

What has happened to the Chicago Bears vaunted defense? The Bears used to, and I stress used to, have a defense that other teams feared in the NFL. This season, when teams play the Bears, all of a sudden their offenses look like world-beaters.

Two weeks ago, the Cincinnati Bengals exposed the Bears defense for what it truly is this season, Swiss cheese. This week the Arizona Cardinals once again showed the football world that the Bears defense is no longer even close to the dominant unit that used to be known as the Monsters of the Midway.

These days all that they can be known as is The Faint & Feeble of the Midway.

After the Bengals scored 45 points two weeks ago and basically scored at will against the Faint & Feeble, the Cardinals took over where the Bengals left off this week. The Cardinals scored every time they touched the ball in the first half to go into the locker room leading the Bears 31-7.

Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner was 17-22 for 189 yards and 4, yes four touchdown passes. The Cardinals even added 3 points at the end of the half after the Bears had a field goal blocked with less then 30 seconds to go in the half. Antrel Rolle returned the block kick 50 yards, a quick pass, and a field goal.

This is getting disgusting. The Bears were unable to stop any third down attempts by the Cardinals in the first half of the game. These were not third and shorts either, they were all third down and long. By long, I mean more then 7 yards.

This is definitely not the Bears defense that Bears fans are used to seeing.

And to add insult to injury, Pro Bowl defensive tackle Tommie Harris was ejected on the fourth play of the game for punching a Cardinals player in the face while he was lying on the ground. I am not sure what caused him to do this, but I am sure it is going to cost him a pretty penny from the league.

As far as the offense, they continue to hurt themselves. After a good drive to answer the Cardinals first score with touchdown of their own with a 32 yard touchdown pass to Greg Olsen, the Bears seemed to be driving, but penalties and a bad play call of a Hester reverse that lost 15 yards stopped any momentum that the Bears were building.

We will see how worse it gets in the second half.

Well it did not get any better, after a few good plays, a sack on third and four ended the Bears opening drive of the second half.

Ho Hum, another third down no stop by the Bears defense, they have yet to stop a third down play in the game.

Sometimes miracles happen; the Bears finally stopped the Cardinals on third down. That is the good news; the bad news is that the Cardinals still kept their streak alive of scoring on every drive by kicking a field goal. They drove right down the field on their first possession. The Bears are now down by 27 points.

This Bears defense is downright offensive and I think it is time to start drinking heavily.

I thought high school football was played on Fridays. I cannot watch anymore, I’m turning it off. <click>

At this rate, the Bears will be lucky to win another game this season.

Turn out the Lights, The Party’s over!
